Job Summary/Primary Functions:
Log Still Distillery is seeking a full-time Visitor Center Manager to oversee, tours, tastings and other customer experience events, providing information to individuals and groups, and creating new and exciting tour and gift shop offerings. The VCM will also be responsible for the gift shop operations including inventory management, merchandising and sales and overall visitor center hiring and staffing.

Major Job Responsibilities/Key Duties:
• Creates and manages weekly staffing schedules for tours, tastings and gift shop team members.
• Implements the visitor center portion of the Dant Crossing/Log Still Distillery marketing plan.
• Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, commitment and quality.
• Responsible for Visitor Center and Gift Shop budget; hit retail sales goals, maintain inventory and control expenses.
• Track performance against expectations and prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports and presentations.
• Solicits feedback from customers on Log Still Distillery’s products and works with the team on developing ideas for “special select offerings” based on consumer feedback and/or trends.
• Creates SOPs and Checklists to maintain a safe and clean working environment for our team and visitors.
• Create and manage ordering system for liquor beer and tasting-related supplies as well as gift shop merchandise.
• Ability to work cross-functionally to establish new events and offerings for the site.
• Trains and Maintains all team members on compliance with all applicable safety practices, environmental regulations, and established policies.
• Performs other duties as periodically assigned

Skills / Experience Required:
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Knowledge of, and passion for, bourbon, whiskey, and distilled spirits
• 3-6 years of related experience, including retail management, marketing and/or tourism or customer service/management experience
• Excellent customer service skills and focus on serving customers and attention to detail, going above and beyond what the customer expects
• Proven experience in inventory management
• Strong customer service understanding
• Proven ability to manage staff
• Ability to think critically and work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to occasionally work weekends & after hours.
• Understanding and knowledge of (or strong desire to learn) the family history in the bourbon industry
• Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons
• Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to improvise when unexpected problems or emergencies arise
• Strong oral communication skills: ability to talk to others to convey information effectively; strong written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills; ability to be proactive and take initiative
• Excellent organization and coordination skills- ability to manage priorities and routine functions effectively and efficiently
• Empathy- Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
• Teamwork – Ability to flex scope of responsibility and perform other functions as needed, regardless of job description
• Proficiency with personal computers / laptops and associated programs (Windows, Microsoft office suite of programs)

Desired Skills:
• Completion of Server Training in Alcohol Regulations (STAR)
• Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training required
• At least 2 years of related (bourbon) experience preferred

Education Required:
• Undergraduate degree

Special Working Conditions (e.g. Temperature Extremes, Lifting, Noise, Off-shifts)
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Physically able to speak for long periods of time while walking without becoming winded
• Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds
